Good Solutions Begin With
Better Questions.
At P & S Informatics, we believe that consulting should not begin with a pre-packaged answer. Every organisation, challenge and decision has a context. Our approach is designed to understand that context before recommending a way forward.
The Problem You See May Not Be
The Problem You Need to Solve.
A falling sales figure may appear to be a marketing problem. A delayed project may appear to be a people problem. A complicated workflow may appear to require new technology.
But before prescribing a solution, we need to understand what is actually causing the challenge. That is why we begin by probing, listening and asking the questions that help reveal the bigger picture.
From Understanding to Meaningful Movement
Our methodology provides a clear path for thinking through challenges while remaining flexible enough to respond to the realities of each organisation.
Probe
We begin by understanding the situation as it is experienced by the client. We listen to the challenge, explore the background and avoid rushing into assumptions. Our objective is to look beyond the first description of the problem.
Clarify
We organise the information, identify gaps and distinguish symptoms from underlying causes. This stage helps bring greater clarity to the risks, opportunities, constraints and decisions that matter.
Strategise
Once the situation is clearer, we explore possible directions. The focus is not simply on producing a document or presentation, but on developing a practical understanding of what should happen next and why.
Solve
We recommend actions, interventions or solutions appropriate to the situation. Where P & S Informatics can provide the required support directly, we do so. Where the solution requires a specialist, we help the client identify the right expertise.
Connect
We recognise that no individual or organisation should claim to be the best solution for every challenge. When specialist execution is required, our role may be to connect the client with trusted expertise while continuing to provide strategic clarity and advisory perspective.
The Questions Behind the Questions
Depending on the engagement, our thinking may explore questions such as these before any recommendation is made.
What is actually happening?
Separating facts, observations and assumptions from the initial interpretation of the problem.
Why is it happening now?
Understanding the triggers, changes or conditions that have brought the challenge into focus.
What has already been tried?
Learning from previous efforts and avoiding the repetition of solutions that have already failed.
Who and what does this affect?
Considering the impact on people, customers, processes, systems, performance and organisational priorities.
What happens if nothing changes?
Understanding the cost of inaction and the risks of allowing the current situation to continue.
What would meaningful movement look like?
Defining success in practical terms before deciding how to pursue it.
Structure Without Rigidity
Context Matters
A solution that works in one organisation may fail in another. We consider the realities surrounding the challenge.
Purpose Comes First
Processes, systems and structures should serve the organisation's purpose — not become obstacles to it.
Action Must Be Practical
Recommendations must recognise real constraints while still helping the organisation move forward.
The Client Is Part of the Solution.
Meaningful consulting is collaborative. We bring an independent perspective and structured enquiry, while the client brings the organisational knowledge, experience and context needed to make informed decisions.
Sometimes the Best Advice Is Not: “Here Is What We Sell.”
A genuine advisory relationship should be able to say, “This is not the right solution,” or even, “We are not the right people to execute this.”
Our commitment is to the client's progress. Where appropriate, we provide direct support. Where specialised expertise is needed, we help point the client in the right direction.
It is in helping ensure the organisation is asking the right questions.
Let's Understand the Challenge Before We Decide the Solution.
If something in your organisation needs attention, you do not need to have the diagnosis ready. Start with the situation. We can begin from there.
